Earlier this year, the Seattle Police Department installed a network of 160 devices throughout the city that can monitor your location, and potentially keep a record of your movement throughout the city.
It was reported by a local news channel that the city purchased the devices with $2.6 million of Homeland Security money.
The network can track your device’s IP address, device type, apps used on the device, current location log, and log up to 1,000 of the last places the device was.
While the city stated the network was not yet in use, the reported found the network IDs of several devices near him using his smartphone’s WiFi manager.
How would you feel about the police using a similar system in your city?
